I proposed to my wife in Red River 16 years ago this weekend (Labor Day); we've been coming back every year since then. Our four kids know only that Labor Day = Red River. It's about 6:30 a.m. right now; the kids are still in bed dreaming of "Red River plums" and can't wait to get there late this afternoon. Like many others, I think God for all the memorial opportunities that Red River has provided me personally over the past 40 years, starting when my grandparents trucked me and my siblings up there during the summer. -- dbt...

". . .Savin' nickles Savin' dimes Workin' till the sun don't shine Lookin' forward to happier times in Red River . . . . . . I'm goin' back someday Come what may--To Red River Where the folks are fine And the world is mine--In Red River Where the mountain peaks are magnifique If I could only see That familiar sunrise thru' sleepy eyes--How happy I'd be . . . Oh I'll never be blue My dreams come true--In Red River". Sounds just like a song I used to sing. See you there at Thanksgiving.

I visited Red River as a child with my family over 20 years ago. We use to go up to Red River alot then. We would gather with our cousins and families and hike up to Middlefork Lake. I remember the beauty of the lake and how no lake I have ever seen since then has matched it's beauty. I remember the streams and the Beaver dams, the deer and beautiful mountains and trees. What an impression it made to have lasted over 20 years. Now this coming week, July 21, 2001 I will be bringing my own children to Red River for the very first time. I hope that they will carry with them the beauty and memories that are such a legacy of Red River, with them for many, many years and that it will become one of their favorite places to visit again and again. Red River, Thanks for the Memories!!!

A man can't help it. There is just something that gets into your blood. You begin as just another tourist, eating stuffed sopapillas at Sundance. Then, before you know it, you and the wife are formulating business plans -- narrowing it down to the perfect business to enhance the community of Red River. So, you're not surprised when you find yourself considering real estate, acquiring capital , talking to engineers and general contractors to fine tune your plans. And if you're not careful, every trip you make to Red River is not JUST for the sheer enjoyment of it. You can't walk to your favorite night spot and pass a vacant lot without the wheels turning.... Needless to say, I'm getting more and more READY to make my home and my livelihood among the great people in Red River. Keep an eye pealed, We're bound to show up before you know it. It's addictive, you know?
