The Carson National Forest has over 250 miles of hiking trails, many of which can be accessed from Red River and the surrounding area. There are easy trails that meander on the edge of town to more difficult trails that will take you to the highest peaks in New Mexico. Many of the local business carry trail maps and will be happy to point you in the right direction.
