A large thundershower triggered a mudslide on the highway between Questa and Red River Tuesday afternoon. The mudslide closed the road for about a half hour while crews from Red River worked to remove the debris and re-open the road.
Seasonal mudslides are not uncommon on this stretch of highway especially during the monsoon season which started about a week ago.
If you are traveling and encounter a mudslide, do not attempt to cross it, as cars have been known to be swept away along with the mud and boulders.
