Spring is turning into car show season in Northern NM. Red River just finished up their 27th annual spring Car Show. This years show took place in the municipal parking lot adjacent to Brandenburg Park. According to this years organizer, Shena Canon, the event attracted 88 entries along with food vendors, a DJ, and plenty of eye candy for car enthusiasts.
Questa just had their first and most likely to be annual car show with 97 entries and even included a bicycle division. Larry Sanchez, the organizer had only expected 50 entries and was overwhelmed on the morning of the event when almost 100 cars showed up. The space that was allocated for the event in the parking lot of the Living Word Ministries church parking lot was quickly overwhelmed. Luckily, a very accomodating adjacent neighbor offered up his front yard for the overflow and the event continued on.
According to Sanchez, entries came from as far away as Central Colorado and Easter NM. When asked if he would be looking for a larger venue for next years show, he said it was definitely under consideration.
If you would like to attend next years car shows, Red River is always the first weekend in June and the Questa car show will most likey be the second week in June. Both events are free for spectators.
